Juan Carlos Cuevas was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico in 1965. It was in 1988 when he naturally discovered his ability to paint, and started studying under his brother’s wing, Joel Cuevas Torres, who displays his artwork in several galleries across Mexico and the U.S.

Juan Carlos specializes in traditional Mexican themes, like the faces of Native Mexicans, Spanish bodegones, and stunning landscapes. He thrives in capturing the images of the real Mexico and its people. His portraits of Indians showcase every detail from their costumes, colourful garments to their expressions, his paintings tent to be thought provoking for the spectator.

Juan Carlos currently exhibits his pieces of art in Hotels and Galleries from San Luis Potosi, Queretaro, Aguascalientes and Puerto Vallarta, where he remains a permanent favorite of the Restaurant-Gallery The River Cafe, his preferred spot where he meets with connoisseurs from all over the world, connecting over art, food and wine conversations.

Juan Carlos is a favourite choice for collectors and his ability to portray beautiful scenery has made his work highly admired and respected by those who have a taste for a more classic approach.
